Airport Infrastructure Renewal (AIR) Program

Available Funding

The Airport Infrastructure Renewal (AIR) grant program is created to provide grants to counties, airport authorities, or cities to keep or enhance jobs in the area, increase the tax base, or expand or create new economic development.

Eligible Applicants for the Airport Infrastructure Renewal (AIR) Program are counties located outside of the metropolitan area, airport authorities, or cities located outside of the metropolitan area.

An eligible project is expected to use the grant funds for the capital costs of redevelopment of an existing facility or construction of a new facility; and for public and private infrastructure costs, including broadband infrastructure costs, necessary for an eligible airport infrastructure renewal economic development project.

Summary Job Description

The Duluth Airport Authority (DAA) desires a highly qualified candidate to fill the Operations Director position. This is a full-time position requiring airport operations education and experience. This position is responsible for leading and overseeing day to day operations and maintenance activities at both the Duluth International and Sky Harbor Airports. Individual will be responsible for short and long term operation and maintenance planning. They will act as the liaison to airlines government agencies, City of Duluth, tenants, contractors and other DAA departments. Position is responsible for airport compliance programs including FAR Part 139 and CFR 49 Part 1542.209. They will monitor deviations from Federal, State and airport operations rules and regulations, determine priorities according to changing conditions, analyze and rapidly work problems and situations that affect the daily operations of the airport and will adopt quick, effective courses of action. Individual is responsible for coordinating DAA activities and programs to attenuate any undesirable impacts on public, the environment and local government organizations.
